GROWING THE BATTERY AND ENERGY STORAGE SUPPLY CHAIN IN NEW YORK
The NENY Supply Chain team is dedicated to the development and expansion of manufacturing and service providers to enable and grow New York State’s supply chain and capabilities in battery production and energy storage system production and deployment.
Our programs are free for companies to participate in and access. There is no cost to companies accessing these services. Our programs are focused on supporting and expanding manufacturers, suppliers and service providers in:

Our seasoned team can assist in sourcing suppliers and service providers from our
extensive network. New York has a long history of highly skilled manufacturing offering
competitive domestic products aa well as contract manufacturing services.
The supply chain development team also offers support to existing New York State
manufacturers not currently operating in the battery and energy storage space who are
interested in pivoting into the space.
New York State is home to numerous economic development organizations with foci
ranging from local to state wide. Businesses may find in challenging navigating
interacting with the various economic development entities within the state. The supply
chain development team is can assist with engaging with economic development
organizations statewide and help businesses make connections both to enter and grow
in New York State.
New York state operates several programs and entities designed to support
entrepreneurs looking to bring their businesses to the state. These entities offer support
dedicated specifically to clean energy, and battery and energy storage industries.
Empire State Development (ESD) , for example, provides support in the form of Green
Enhanced Excelsior Tax Credits and the FAST NY Shovel Ready Grant Program both
designed to aid high-tech, clean-focused companies.
Other forms of state-sponsored support for companies in these industries include the
clean energy and sustainable infrastructure investment fund, New York Green Bank, and
New York Power Authority offering low-cost power to businesses.
The supply chain development team is intimately connected with the current battery and energy ecosystem in New York State and is working to fill identified gaps and grow the ecosystem. Working closely with state and regional entities such as Empire State Development (ESD), NYSERDA, the New York Greenbank, and the New York Power Authority the team is a valuable resource for establishing your business in New York.
The NENY supply chain development team created a first of its kind supply chain database for battery and energy storage. Unique to the database is the inclusion of both products and services related to battery and energy storage. Both registration and searching of the database are free of charge and supported by NENY. The NENY supply chain development team is comprised of seasoned professionals from NY-BEST, Alliance for Manufacturing Technology (AMT), and Binghamton University. The team has extensive experience supporting the growth of the battery and energy storage system ecosystem in New York. The team is ready to provide technical assistance to established New York state businesses looking to expand in the sector as well as businesses interested in establishing business in the state.
Designed for companies in the battery and energy storage space, the NENY Technical Assistance Program focuses on innovation and manufacturing clusters in upstate New York. Our goal is to catalyze technology development and scale-up for battery and energy storage startups and small to medium-sized companies in New York state.
Supply Chain Initiatives
NENY and its battery supply chain coalition members are working to empower and expand the New York Energy Storage ecosystem mapping the current supply chain, identifying areas ripe for growth and working to fill the gaps. Goals of this project include identifying regional and state capabilities and gaps, identifying companies with the potential to enter the ecosystem, facilitating business relationships between new and existing companies, and attracting businesses to the battery supply chain from outside the region, state and beyond.
NENY and coalition partner NY-BEST host an online supply chain database. It will serve as an updated resource to identify local, small, minority and women-owned businesses within the ecosystem. The NENY/NY-BEST supply chain database is now available for public search and company registration here.
NENY and its battery supply chain coalition members will work with current companies in the existing network to develop supplier qualification resources and a process to shorten the time to complete quality supply chain manufacturing components.
